South Lake Tahoe Winter Activities

Heavenly is one of Tahoe’s largest ski resorts, with terrain that spans California and Nevada. You’ll find lake views, long cruisers, tree runs, terrain parks, and plenty of on-mountain dining. The gondola from the village makes it easy to access the mountain, and there’s something here for all skill levels.

A favorite of locals and families, Sierra‑at‑Tahoe blends approachable terrain with playful features like terrain parks and a half-pipe. With an elevation topping 8,800 ft and regular snowfall, it's ideal for beginner to intermediate skiers, or anyone who enjoys scenic alpine views with fewer crowds.

Hours: Winter lift operations generally run Monday–Friday 9:00 am–4:00 pm; weekends and holidays from 8:30 am–4:00 pm; parking opens around 7 am 

Hansen’s Snow Tube Resort offers a gem of winter fun—its 400-ft-long groomed tubing hill is ideal for kids and families. With sidewalls for safe speed and a friendly, rustic lodge, it’s a charming spot to laugh and slide together beneath snowy skies.

Hours: Open daily during winter, usually 9 am–5 pm (some sources cite 10 am–3 pm; always check ahead as hours vary)
